Edgar’s Grille has an excellent opportunity for a Sous Chef. Edgar’s Grille is unlike any other restaurant in the Augusta area. A portion of every dollar spent goes toward education programs, job training and placement services for those in need. Named for Edgar Helms, founder of Goodwill Industries, Edgar’s offers discriminating diners in Augusta a true “win-win” situation.
Second in command to the Executive Chef the Sous Chef will be responsible for the oversight of proper preparation, excellence of product and profit and labor cost. The Sous Chef will organize and help in the service of all restaurant and banquet activities as well as supervise and schedule staff. The Sous Chef will help with menu planning, inventory, and managing of supplies. He or she will also aid in making sure the kitchen is up to safety standards, and that staff are following sanitation rules.
Support senior leadership by developing and assuming basic management responsibilities.
Supervise the preparation and cooking of various food items.
Develop and implement creative menu items.
Plan, coordinate & implement special events and functions
Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring
May manage other key culinary leadership roles including supervisor and other less senior Sous Chefs
Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results
Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis
Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment
A minimum of an Associate degree in Culinary Science or a relevant field.
Proven track record in the restaurant industry with an upward career progression.
High-volume experience with passion for using only the freshest, high quality ingredients.
Strong knowledge of multiple cuisine backgrounds including modern American and fine dining seafood. cooking methods, kitchen equipment and best practices.
Understanding of MS Office and restaurant software programs.
Teamwork oriented with outstanding leadership abilities.
