Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for food service worker/prep cooks.
The food service prep cooks prepare and package various grab and go items, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and other hot or cold food items as needed. Duties include preparing sandwich meats, cheeses, condiments and salads using approved production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control; stocking and replenishing deli/cold/hot products and condiments following approved merchandising guidelines; and obtaining daily production schedule and preparation requirements from Chef. The prep cooks will be expected to serve hot and cold items to customers; inventory and restock supplies and food products as needed; and maintain a clean, safe work environment to comply with sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements. These positions may be assigned to cashier duties, dishwashing, and preparing and serving foods.
High School diploma or equivalent with two years of job-related experience is required. Qualified candidates must be ServSafe certified. These positions require the ability to prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules; create or prepare meals for delivery with focus on quality, portion and presentation; and a commitment to quality. Candidates should be well organized, detail oriented, and able to multi task; ability to communicate in a pleasant manner with a diverse guest group is a must. Additional requirements are the the ability to lift 30 lbs; to withstand frequent standing and bending from the waist; and proficiency with the handling of knives. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
