Description of Work:
The Chef / Assistant Food Service Manager is the lead production person at the Nebraska East Union Dining Center responsible for menu development, food production, recipe creation and testing, as well as training staff in production methods and skills. Assists with the management and supervision of the overall operation of the Nebraska East Union Dining Center and Catering production responsibilities. Provides a safe and inviting atmosphere, healthful meal choices, and quality service in an environment that promotes the diversity, growth, and education of our students, staff, faculty and guests.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Associate's or equivalent education/experience in Culinary Arts or food-related, business, or hotel/restaurant management field plus four (4) years of food service management experience in a high-volume commercial or non-commercial dining service operation required. Knowledge of cost controls, inventory controls and food safety/sanitation programs necessary. Must have ability to supervise large quantity food production, and excellent skills in customer relations, team building, and communications. Knowledge of personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and internet necessary.
Serve safe course certification or willingness to obtain certificate upon hire.
Bachelor's degree in relevant food/dietetic/hospitality or Culinary Arts preferred. Knowledge of electronic payroll and computerized food management systems preferred. Experience with planning, preparation and service of special events/catered events preferred. Management experience in a non-commercial dining service operation desirable.
Posted Salary: $47,000 minimum
