The Department of Dining Services at Messiah University currently has an opening for the position of Sous Chef.
Responsibilities: This full time position oversees culinary production and supports and assists the catering production ensuring that safety, quality, quantity and appearance standards are met.
Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts, Certificate in ServSafe, and 2 – 5 years of hotel or institutional culinary experience is required.
Skills and Characteristics: Excellent leadership skills including the ability to train, mentor, and direct staff; effective time management skills including the ability to coordinate resources within the department; demonstrated culinary skill and artistic ability; must also have an understanding of food cost, labor cost, contribution margin, and other factors which directly affect net profit.
