The Southwest Virginia Community College Culinary Arts program in the Division of Arts and Sciences is seeking a culinary professional who is committed to providing an exceptional education through a predominately lab-based platform to build a new culinary program. The individual should be committed to teaching and developing the next generation of culinarians for the SWCC service region and beyond. A successful candidate must be prepared to teach both for-credit and non-credit course in a variety of modalities. They must also be capable of organizing, managing, and providing services for special events, and of developing work-based learning opportunities for the program’s students. The successful candidate will believe in student-based learning and will be committed to the ideals found in the College’s equity and diversity mission statement.
Associate Degree in Culinary Arts
Experience in a kitchen environment, including some supervisory experience
Commitment to the role of the community college in higher education and the community
Knowledge and ability to use and maintain kitchen equipment
Written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills which demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively, effectively, and responsively with community college students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders
Ability to create connections to restaurant, food service, and food-related industries for job-placement and internship opportunities for students
