The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Assistant Pastry Chef.

This position is responsible for scheduling staff based on operational needs. Assist in pastry preparation, production and presentation activities. Assist in creating cooperative work environment, supervise and direct training sessions, and conduct performance appraisals. Update production schedules, recipe cards, and plating guides. Assist in developing new menus and test new recipes. Oversees buffets set ups, special menus and catering functions. Manage pastry station for optimum production and quality. Set daily priorities and inform changes in staff assignment and or schedules that may arise anytime. Works with storeroom personnel to ensure proper storage, rotation and ordering and stock food products in coolers and freezers according to food storage standards and inventory guides are up to date. Ensure that staff are groomed and dressed in proper uniforms and kitchen equipment and supplies are maintained clean and sanitized in accordance with all health and safety regulations and report and maintenance and/or repairs needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school. 3 to 4 years of experience working all culinary stations in a full service menu kitchen. Must have good leadership skills and the propensity to engage with the team.
Preferred Qualifications: ACF certified Pastry Sous-Chef, ServSafe certification, all leadership and supervisory seminars offered by the University including FMS and C-board training. Alergon certification.
