Join our GREAT team as Head Chef! Be instrumental in creating a unique, craft food experience for our guests! This position is primarily focused on designing and executing on a frequently changing and inventive craft food menu that pairs well with our weekly craft beer offerings on tap. The Head Chef will manage the daily operations of the kitchen, oversee the kitchen staff to ensure that the highest quality of cuisine is served to our guests, and ensure that all food and labor cost goals are met. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a cook and supervising employees in a commercial kitchen setting, and willingness to do whatever it takes for an exceptional customer experience. This is a great opportunity to be instrumental in the success of an emerging, local brewery.
Schedule/Hours Full-time, 40 hours, Wednesday - Sunday. Evenings and Weekends required as job duties demand.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and maintain a frequently changing, inventive menu utilizing current beer offerings, creative input from the team and customer feedback
Train and provide day-to-day supervision of kitchen staff. Assign tasks and effectively manage kitchen labor hours of the preparation and presentation of food to ensure high quality food orders quickly and accurately
Actively participate in kitchen tasks including prep, cooking and plating as needed
Provide input on quality, cost-effective labor models, recruiting, hiring and kitchen scheduling
Resolve issues as they arise so that guests continue to receive quality orders in a timely manner
Create and maintain kitchen procedures, recipe books, and inventory logs with an overall goal to build resilience procedures to ensure operations can be sustained through interruptions to normal kitchen operations
Set menu item prices and make ongoing adjustments as needed based on the cost and availability of ingredients, labor costs, sales data, forecast etc. Monitor price per item to ensure appropriate profitability based on goals
Collaborate with Management Team to align kitchen operations with the overarching goals of the brewery
Follow and train kitchen staff on safe food handling procedures based on the FDA Food Code. Ensure kitchen work areas, counters and equipment are properly maintained
Maintain food vendor supplier relationships. Place orders, receive and stock kitchen-related ingredients/items. Direct appropriate staff to complete as needed
Other responsibilities as defined by manager
Associates Degree or equivalent required in Restaurant Management, Culinary Arts or equivalent
Qualifications and Skills
3+ years related culinary and kitchen management experience
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen required
Knowledge of safe food handling practices. Must be ServSafe Food Manager Certified. Willing to pay for certification.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
Strong multitasking skills
Team player and customer focused attitude
Lift, push and pull up to 30 pounds
Work in standing position for majority of working day
