Founded in 1890 as the Hillside Tennis Club, Plainfield Country Club has enjoyed a revered reputation among families and golf enthusiasts alike.  The main course was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1921.  Sports facilities also include an expansive racquets facility with tennis, platform tennis, pickleball and squash courts, an aquatics center and the “West Nine” golf course.  A renovation of the Historic Clubhouse was completed in 2019.   The club prides itself as a “Family Country Club with World Class Golf”.

The Chef/Chef de Cuisine will take a “hands on approach” and is responsible for all food production including a la carte, banquets and other service venues (Pool restaurant and course Halfway House).   He/She will supervise the production staff and develop and monitor food and labor budgets for the department.  He/She will maintain the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas. This position will report directly to Plainfield Country Club’s General Manager.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Ensure that all food is consistently outstanding – from standard club fare offerings to incorporation of cutting-edge culinary trends.
• Significantly elevate utilization of PCC’s renovated Clubhouse and kitchen facilities.
• Recruit, train, motivate, mentor, manage and schedule all Kitchen staff.
• Lead by example in the delivery of high quality and consistent products.
• Oversee a highly professional and enjoyable work environment that upholds all PCC policies.
• Provide the highest professional standards for sanitation and maintenance of all kitchen areas and equipment.
• Work closely with the “FOH staff” to ensure collaboration, quality, and innovative service for Members & Guests.
• Work closely with other departments to establish best practices and ensure that events and projects are executed smoothly and staffed appropriately.
• Partner with the Director of Food and Beverage and team for pre-shift meetings, menu design, daily specials, event menus and management of all costs.
