We are looking for a Culinary Services Assistant Manager with strong leadership abilities to join our Food Services Department. This full-time person would work Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 6:30pm.
Responsibilities for Culinary Services Assistant Manager:
Ensures the highest level of sanitation in food preparation and food storage in compliance with all relevant codes and Health Department standards.
Ensures allergy protocol procedures are being used in meal preparation and service.
Partners with Department Manager to create, maintain and supervise a detailed planned maintenance program.
Assists in managing the department’s budget.
Monitors and maintains supplies of paper goods and chemicals. Maintains Material Safety Data sheets.
Maintains temperature monitoring systems including prepared food temperatures and equipment temperatures. Trains staff to use monitoring equipment and logs.
Assists Manager in interviewing and employee reviews.
Supervises daily CACFP meal preparation data record keeping.
Contributes ideas to menu plans that are cost effective, nutritious, highly palatable, compliant with applicable programs, culturally appropriate and responsive to stakeholder needs.
Supervises preparation of all menu items during dinner shift and joins team on the line when appropriate.
Proactively identifies shortfalls within the department, notifies Department Manager and collaborates in developing ways to correct them.
Works with Creative Coordinator to ensure department consistency and continuity.
Leads engagement with shelter guests and volunteer staff during meal service.
Requirements for Culinary Services Assistant Manager:
High School Diploma or GED required.
2 years’ experience managing high-volume food service operations, ideally in complex organizations including but not limited to school systems, healthcare providers and residential facilities.
Demonstrated record of compliance with licensing regulations.
Demonstrated experience supervising diverse teams and engaging constructively with diverse clientele.
Working knowledge of cost control and budgeting techniques, volume feeding and state and local health department guidelines.
Must have or be able to obtain within 30 days and maintain ServSAFE Food Manager Certification.
Must have or be able to obtain within 60 days and maintain ServSAFE Allergen Certification.
Must be able to stand for up to eight hours.
