The Culinary Coordinator is responsible for planning and managing the daily food service at the school at the High School. The Culinary Coordinator oversees and runs the satellite schools meal program. Also coordinate the preparation and service of food for various high school catering events along with the Supervisor of Food Service.
High School diploma required.
Minimum of two years of successful experience in food preparation and management.
Degree in culinary, hospitality management or nutrition preferred but not mandatory
Supervisory experience of food service operations. Ability to coordinate and direct staff.
Knowledge of operation of all equipment, including safety practices.
Certified in food service sanitation.
Proficiency with computers and various software products.
Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and assist in preparing the food for the monthly menu, catering and other events.
Oversee and coordinate the daily food preparation and serving of food at their assigned school and for all satellite schools.
Supervise and order food and supplies.
Demonstrates and maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
Manage the daily operation of the Satellite meal program, kitchen and cafeteria.
Maintain and supervise the daily end-of-day accounting of funds.
Maintain and supervise the inventory of the regular food purchases and supplies.
Maintain and supervise the completion of the daily production records.
Instruct and train food service staff in the safe, proper and efficient use of food service equipment and safe food handling and food preparation.
Submit bills to district office for payment.
Maintain regular communication with satellite schools to meet their needs
Manage equipment and make recommendations for repair, replacement and or new purchases.
Preform yearly evaluations of staff.
Maintain time sheets for biweekly submission to accounting
Assist the Food Service Supervisor in other areas relating to the food service operation that may be deemed appropriate.
The person, while performing in this position, will be required to:
Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
Talk and hear
Sit, stand and walk, and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and crouch
Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds without any help
Must be able to push food and utility carts and utilize other equipment
Demonstrate manual dexterity required to operate food preparation equipment
Hold valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and have access to personal transportation
