Position: We are seeking a talented and experienced Head Baker for our bakery operations serving our family of restaurants. The Head Baker will play a pivotal role in upholding our commitment to culinary excellence. Nestled in one of our locations, our bakery takes great pride in offering a variety of baked goods, including our popular pies and cinnamon rolls, which have delighted customers for years.
The Head Baker is responsible for day to day bakery operations, leading and training the baking staff, and ensuring a high quality, organized and efficient process for regular operations. They will work alongside the bakery team to produce beautiful pastries, breads and desserts.
The ideal candidate is passionate about baking, is a natural leader, and has a keen eye for detail. This role requires creativity, organization, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Bakery Production: Oversee the production of a variety of baked goods, including bread, pastries, pies, and other desserts, ensuring consistent quality and freshness.
Menu Development: Collaborate with the culinary team to develop innovative and seasonally inspired baked goods that complement the restaurants’ offerings.
Recipe Development: Create and refine recipes, taking into account flavor profiles, ingredient availability, and customer preferences.
Ingredient Sourcing: Source high-quality ingredients from reputable suppliers, ensuring freshness and consistency in all baked goods.
Kitchen Management: Manage day-to-day operations of the bakery, including scheduling, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
Staff Training: Train and mentor bakery staff, providing guidance on baking techniques, recipe execution, and food safety protocols.
Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control standards to maintain the highest levels of taste, texture, and presentation in all baked goods.
Cost Management: Monitor food costs and labor expenses, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and minimize waste.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as food hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Customer Interaction: Interact with customers to gather feedback, address inquiries, and promote bakery offerings, enhancing the overall dining experience.
5+ years experience in a commercial bakery with 2+ years of leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry arts, and dessert preparation, with a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing products.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team, fostering a positive work environment.
Creative flair and the ability to innovate, developing unique recipes and bakery offerings that set our restaurants apart.
Degree or certification in baking and pastry arts preferred, but not required.
ServSafe certification or equivalent preferred.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precision in recipe execution, portioning, and presentation.
