Enthusiastic, kind hearted Savory Chef that enjoys people, needed to teach recreational cooking classes to local residents and AZ tourists visiting the area. Class menus reflect international themes. Must be able to communicate your passion for food, culinary traditions & connect local agriculture to the recipes and wine.
Duties include:
• Contribute to menu and recipe development for the semester class schedule. • Read, research the recipes and ingredients used. Create the connection to local agriculture • Develop lesson plans for each class taught • Track all food expenses • Prepare all mise en place or other required menu items prior to class. • Enthusiastically instruct with humor up to 16 students in a cooking class. Provide demonstrations and support to students throughout the kitchen & dining experience. • Work collaboratively with the Culinary Technician and Director of Culinary Arts. • Recruit and retain customers to take additional classes • Learn about Yavapai College's Southwest Wine Center and the viticulture program. • Maintain excellent kitchen sanitation standards at all time • Report broken equipment/class issues to Director • Use checklist to sign off on kitchen closure • May teach classes off site • May support other culinary related projects or events
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
• Associate degree in Culinary Arts • Wear required Culinary Arts program uniform (Provided Chef coat, pants, non-clip shoes) • This position stands for long periods of time, lifts and transports items to and from events and must be timely. • Work with a diverse student population • Exhibit patience and a positive attitude in an academic learning environment • Demonstrate reliability and good customer service skills • Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills • Demonstrate time management and organizational skills, and ability to complete a variety of tasks on immediate or extended timelines • Maintain kitchen work areas in a clean and organized manner • Work well as a member of a team to provide excellent service in a high paced work environment • Have a strong understanding of technology and the ability to use it effectively and efficiently
