Winter Season: starts November 25, 2024 and ends April 16, 2025
Pastry Cook:
The Pastry Cook will work closely with the Executive Pastry Chef to craft delicious desserts and pastries, monitor quality of items, assist with inventory and maintaining accurate rotation of stock, observe and correct food safety issues, and monitor work in the Executive Pastry Chef’s absence from the kitchen.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Set up workstation based on menu items, banquet event orders and specials, and ensures all stations are ready for the shift.
Scale/Measure ingredients for production.
Observe standards of excellence to ensure beautiful and tasteful presentation of all pastries and desserts.
Monitor the stock of baking ingredients notify the Executive Pastry Chef when new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the pastry section are needed.
Supervise and train staff members when needed.
Follow proper sanitation and safety guidelines.
Keep kitchen work and storage areas clean and organized.?
Ensure all food is dated, rotated, and stored in proper containers in refrigerators and freezers, to maintain freshness.

KEYS TO SUCCESS:
Three (3) or more years’ experience working within the food industry as a Pastry Lead, Baker, or relevant role.
Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field.
High school diploma.
Ability to work effectively in a high energy and busy environment.
Works well under pressure.
Ability to read recipes and follow directions.
Ability to handle knives, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment efficiently and safely such as knives, combi ovens, open gas ranges, and mixers.
Able to demonstrate culinary techniques such as cutting, cooking principles, plate presentations and proper sanitation and safety practices.
Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process.
Keen attention to detail.
Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Ability to make sound and rational decisions in performance of duties.
